I wish to opine to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR on the importance of considering Malam (Dr.) Ibrahim Shekarau, the former Governor of Kano State for appointment as the Federal Minister of Education to help stem all the urgly trends and odds in the educational sector ranging from infrastructural decay, incessant ASUU, ASUP and teachers strikes, ungodly hike in tuition fees especially in the states tertiary institutions. For more than a year now continuosly, strikes discussions have dominated our television and radio programs not to even mention amongst the parents, market women and civil society. He is an educationist and administrator per excellence. He rose from classroom teacher to Principal, Cordinator, Director, Permanent Secretary and Governor. He has done it in Kano before and therefore should be given the opportunity to replicate his exemplary and managerial skills in this sector of the economy.
