I wish you all a very Happy Republic Day: Importance of 26th January: 26th January is a very important date for India. The day marks the change in the laws of India on which the Government of India Act of 1935 was replaced by the constitution of India of 1950. But even before 26 January 1950, the date has its own importance in the History of Indian Independence history. According to the resolution which was adopted at the Lahore Congress of 1929, the people of India were to consider themselves as independent from the United Kingdom if the demands which were laid by the congress would not be fulfilled by the British rule and in accordance, 26 January 1930 and every year would be celebrated as fake Independence Day. After the actual Independence, 26th January was preserved for the celebrations by giving effect to the constitution of India on 26th January 1950. Thus the 26th January got its own importance from 1930 itself as a fake Independence Day which then became the official Republic Day of India. Jai Hind.
