I woke up this morning feeling a deep tenderness, tinged with grief, as I contemplated afresh the abrupt passing of our beloved canine companion, Deojee. And it makes me SO appreciate the heartbreaking beauty of love...that these temporary forms we occupy have such power to influence the hearts, minds and life experiences of all others whom we encounter, by chance or design. All forms dissolve; we cannot control that outcome. But we can—in the brief time that our flame burns here in form—gift love, healing, compassion, kindness, tenderness, joy, peace, and unimaginable beauty to one another. Dogs teach us that by quiet example. Every one of my beloved pets taught me the power of unconditional love, because they liberally slathered it onto all who took the time and had the awareness to receive it. These awesome examples of loving beings abound on Planet Earth. And I wonder...what better serves us? To focus on fully appreciating and emulating the most loving beings we know, or to point out the perceived failings of those who have not yet learned to love, and then complain about them? I think I know the answer...for myself, anyhow. So today, let me send out irrepressible doggie licks and joyous puppy bounces to ALL you beautiful beings who grace my world. I love you all.
