I woke up yesterday to a lovely lump plaguing my little dogs rear - TopicsExpress

I woke up yesterday to a lovely lump plaguing my little dogs rear end. While it didnt interfere with her ability to use the great outdoors, it also didnt seem very comfortable. I had no idea what it was but given its sudden appearance and the discoloration of the skin, I thought it most likely to be a spider or bug bite. For a spider bite on a human, I would normally use the Purify blend. Being uncertain, however, what this actually was and knowing the dog was likely to lick at the wound, I opted to go with a topical application of lavender--a gentle analgesic, antibiotic, and antiseptic--and melaleuca--a strong antibacterial antibiotic. The picture on the left is after two applications (two hours apart). It is smaller and softer than the original lump and there is more skin discoloration. After the third application, the lump began to drain itself, the result of which is shown on right. Today she is doing much better and we are continuing with regular wound care--cleansing with On Guard and continuing to apply oils topically about every 4 hours. EDIT: These images didnt post in the order intended so the images are reversed. I realize not everyone wants to see a picture of my dogs rear, butt :) its an essential oils success story so I have to share!
