I wonder how differently a person would act if they knew that they were being watched, recorded, and documented with their every move? It seems to me that if I were some scumbag, attempting to cheat the system and rob society of its gracious welfare generosity, that I would be more cogniscient of my every move... On one of my workmans comp fraud cases this week, I was in Waco on surveillance. I had set up outside of this somewhat inner-city neighborhood, in the street, about 4 doors down from the subject of the investigations residence. All was quiet for the first leg of the case, but around 2pm, the subject made a move, and pulled out of her driveway. This is the part that will make or break a case. Rarely do you find enough activity at a subjects home to make the entire fraud case, its when you follow them to film their actual activities that are the investigation gold. I followed the woman to an HEB grocery store. She had an alleged back and foot injury, so walking through a store with no brace or assistance device, pushing a basket, and then loading heavy groceries into the trunk of a car would be pretty good and pretty damning evidence against the person. Probably not enough to make a whole case, but couple with other activity, its pretty solid. So I was pretty excited about the opportunity to add this activity to my growing case against the subject. The rather slender, chain-smoking woman who was the subject of this particular case found a parking spot close, about 3 spaces from the front handicap space, and pulled in, head first. A completely normal parking job. It was 2pm, broad daylight, and in a somewhat busy parking lot. There were two signs that informed the public that there were video cameras monitoring the parking. Of course, they didnt mean mine, but security cameras. The woman, cigarette dangling from the side of her mouth, stepped nonchalantly out of her small vehicle, straightened as she stood, and grimaced as the cigarette bounced up and down. My finger had already slid over to the Record button on my camera as she pulled in to the parking spot, to insure that I had her getting in and out of the vehicle effortlessly. As she stood and stretched for a moment, I zoomed in as she suddenly and suspiciously peered to her left, then to her right. Womens intuition is something in which I am DEATHLY AFRAID, so I was certain she had made me, and caught on that she was being followed. Oh Lord, how I wish that was it.... Without a seeming care in the entire world, the woman then whipped her elastic banded mom-jeans down, squatted down, and fired off a heinous and shockingly large duece, RIGHT THERE in the parking lot, 45 feet from the front door of the grocery store, and with people milling around EVERYWHERE. I was absolutely dumbfounded at the speed and accuracy of this obviously well-practiced maneuver.... or in this case, manure-ver. The most disturbing part of this whole thing, besies the fact that I have it in 1080 clarity, was that she then slid her jeans up as she stood, in one motion, and proceeded on in to the store, without a care in the world. Ok.. her first care SHOULD have been that she in no way, shape, or form, wiped. Ill be the first person to say, with photographic proof to back this up, that this was NOT the type of dump that shot out effortlessly and tapered, leaving behind no remenents of its intestinal water-slide ride. This was a messy loaf thrusting. THERE WAS NEED for paperwork! I guess the moral of the story is... hell, I dont even know! I just had to tell someone, because my report to the insurance company Im sure was more colorful and disturbing than anything they processed that day, I can ASSure you!
