I wonder how popular Amnesty would be if the American citizens were asked to pay for it (and they will be later)? What if they were all upfront about this and told you that you would have to pay more taxes to support all of these people? What if they were honest enough to tell you that they might have to cut food stamps again because the system is already overloaded? What if they told you that you could save a whole lot of kids and the only thing it would cost you is 10% of your monthly welfare check? What if they told you that your already unbelievably high health care costs would have to go up again? This is not about humanitarianism to me. As a Father of some wonderful kids I understand that sacrifices have to be made sometimes. You cant feed more mouths without finding the money to do it. The country is already beyond broke. Broke is when you have no money. We owe over 17 trillion. That is worse than broke. People need jobs and they need hope. This is not about being a hardass. I am not God and I can not help everyone. I am already taxed to the point that my family barely gets by each month. AND, the fact that we do get by makes us very lucky. This country can not take anymore financial strain. Secure the borders and enforce the law. If people want to enter legally then so be it. But stop trying to guilt trip me into supporting more kids. My kids come first and I can not afford to support any more.
