I worry about my family! We are all getting up there and my dad beats them all in age 91 years old! Doing great but this year seems to be where he is dimming and not as sharp, maybe more tottery too. My brothers are living in the SAME house and have assumed caregiving to my dad, but one brother has Parkinsons Disease too. So the other brother is caring for both. Now where am I? I took care of my mom - from outside the home - for years. My dad did it inside and yes, they suffered. They refuse expert professional help to staying at home and saving money! I became their go-to person! I finally had to say no more. That was just 2 weeks before my mother died. I am having to deal with having to say no more and take care of MY own and MYSELF! My brothers are learning that caregiving is a strain. Ive reminded them that professional help CAN make a difference, but one brother is still being in charge of the situation by doing it all. Not good. So this article is helpful for me and I am sure to many others! I will pray that when I need care, that I can find the right kind for me and my spouse/kids! Save them from burnout!
