I would appreciate being left anonymous for this post. My mother in law is overstepping!!! She gives me outdated unwarranted advice! A few examples: when my son first came home from the hospital she insisted that we let him sleep on his stomach sometimes! She is always saying things like babies just cry and just let him cry, you need time to yourself. I am all about having me time but I will not let my son CIO. Im just not that parent (even though I believe that you should do whatever works for you and your family). Also, she is always giving breastfeeding advice even though she formula fed with both of her children. Like she insists that we must give him a bottle everyday or he wont take a bottle (& Im like if you want to pump for me, warm unnecessary bottles, and wash them be my guess. Ill stick to feeding him on demand from the tap!). My son has taken a bottle maybe 6x and does great. That is just the tip of the iceberg. She has something to say about EVERYTHING. I am a very confident mother seeking absolutely no advice and if I do need advice I ask professionals, fellow moms, and read appropriate literature. My question is how do I get her to stop?
