I would argue that THIS is the first rock opera. Although... it has little rock in it. (Compared to the competition.) Wouldnt you KNOW? Zappa. The band kicks it... not too many overdubs back in 66. (Some, but not many... although Zappa was at the forefront of technology, even back in the day... so who knows for sure how many layers were piled up here? Not me.) Anyway... fans know this... Im posting this for folks unfamiliar with it. Take a WHOLE seven minutes out of you day to listen to something youve never heard before, and are unlikely to hear, in the exact same fashion, again.
