I would just like to share how scary my personal interactions n experiences with Muslims have been. When i helped my Muslim neighbours elderly mum carry her heavy load of shopping upstairs she invited me and my daughter in and filled the table with beautiful foods to eat n we drank tea and enjoyed eachothers company. Even tho she has alot of stress in her life, with a young child, bub on the way, working, the stress of her husband still being in Iraq desperately wanting him here for the birth, she still found time to organize and deliver a big box of fresh fruit and veg to me and other neighbours living in our gov housing complex. When the women in my playgroup were fasting for Ramadan they still took the time to create food they were rostered on to for others to enjoy and were happy to do so. They joined in with the Christmas celebrations, in the same way that other people, who like myself, arent religious. Just a fun get together with food and gifts for the kids. When one of my girls school mates mum found out my daughter was making magnets to raise money for Free the Bears, she was so proud of her compassion and bought not one but a few. Even tho she was struggling herself, sending every extra dollar to her family in Syria. She was the only mum to follow thru on supporting my then 5yr old. These are just a few of my personal experiences. Not one time ever has any one tried to force their beliefs on me, not once has any one judged me or made me feel bad for my choice of clothing. And not once have i or any one i know been a victim of a terror attack. I just wish they had been treated with the same level of respect and kindness that they show toward others. Its not right that all those women have experienced horrible words and angry glares from complete strangers. I pledge to keep supporting the idea that we all have the right to a peaceful life and the freedom to choose whatever thoughts and ideas we hold in our minds and heart.
