I would like to call your attention to an urgent situation. On Monday January 12th The Toronto Humane Society will be partnering with the Yorkville Whole Foods Market in a major fundraising event where by 5% of net sales for the day will go directly to The Toronto Humane Society. Whole Foods Market began selling rabbit meat in select stores in 2014 and actively encouraging the growth of industrial rabbit farming and slaughter. This is in direct conflict with The Toronto Humane Society’s mission statement. Of note, the same breed of rabbit now being sold in Whole Foods Markets butcher aisles, New Zealands, are available for adoption at The Toronto Humane Society. It is our belief that this is all a clever marketing ploy by Whole Foods Markets who have even gone so far as to have a cute bunny on the posters promoting this event.
