I would like to clear up a misconception about what my role is here when it comes to situations here in town. 1st: Im not anyones get out of jail free card. I dont care if you are my friend or someone I dont know its all the same to me. If you are my friend or we socialize every now and again doesnt mean you can drop the Chief is my friend and get to go on your merry way. I dont operate that way. The only difference between arresting a friend and someone you dont know is that you have more to talk about on the way to jail. 2nd: Do not expect me to interfere with one of my cops when they make a decision that is within their rights and authorities to make. If they are acting in a professional manner within the laws of the State of Texas and the departmental policies and procedures I have set forth they can do their job as they see fit. Think of it this way would you like it if your boss was constantly reversing your decisions and undermining your authority? Probably not. 3rd: In reference to the 2 items listed above: Im available to field legitimate complaints of officer misconduct at anytime. However if you need to speak to me about a complaint or problem with one of my guys please contact me during normal business hours Monday - Friday from 8am-5pm unless there is an emergency. If there is an issue that needs my immediate attention you can call me anytime day or night. However if you need police assistance please call Lavaca County Dispatch at (361)798-2900 and ask for the on duty Moulton P.D. officer and they will be dispatched to where you are or they can call you back which ever you prefer. This post doesnt seek to offend anyone or make people feel as if they cant talk to me about the issues they may be having but my phone ringing every time someone gets stopped is ridiculous. If you get a ticket or your vehicle gets towed or you spend the night in the County Jail its because of something you did to get to that point. Simply stated, if you dont break the law you have nothing to worry about. Thank you and stay safe.
