I would like to discuss my day today on November 22, 2013, the 50th anniversary of the assassination and death of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. I hope Organizing for Action concentrates on praising President Obama and former President Clinton for accompanying Ethel Kennedy in a ceremony to put a wreath near President Kennedys gravesite in Arlington, Virginia on November 20, 2013. I was pleased to see Ethel at many events including the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Book Awards in 2005 with historian Arthur Schlesinger. At Georgetown I attended the BMW Center for German and European Studies lunch where Dr. Wolfgang Streeck of Cologne, Germany talked about a prosperous economy in Germany. I told him afterwards I wanted to remember President Kennedys speech for freedom in West Berlin on the 50th Anniversary of President Kennedys death. I attended the Mass of Remembrance for the 50th Anniversary of President Kennedys death at St. Matthews Cathedral in Washington, D.C. at 5:30 PM today and the homilist Father Hehir mentioned the Peace Corps, Ted Sorensens speechwriting, and 3 main speeches: President Kennedys Inaugural Address, June 10, 1963 American University speech on nuclear arms control, and a speech the next day to reduce tensions with Governor George Wallace of Alabama on civil rights.
