I would like to inform our citizens of an incident that occurred this morning near the elementary school. As im sure many of you noticed and may have been concerened because of the large police presence around the school. At about 7:15, one of our officers was conducting traffic enforcement on Hickory street when he recognized a subject with an active felony warrant for his arrest. Our officer attempted to make contact with the subject when he fled on foot into a house and out the rear of house. Officers set up a perimeter around the area but were unable to locate the subject at that time. Because the subject was on foot in the area, the school was put on a brief (soft lockdown) for precautionary reasons restricting access from the outside. We have since located the subject out of our area and he is in custody at this time. Chief Mallory
