The idea of changing the composition of coins is dangerous and based on a dim wits assumption . Their minimal thinking skills follow this faulty logic, i.e., saving manufacturing costs is a good idea, all ideas for saving are good ideas. This is infantile. Replacing pharmaceutical silicone to save money on breast augmentation and plastic surgery by using industrial silicone is dangerous. Replacing a patients life sustaining medication with a placebo is not a good idea. Alternative metals for our economy welfare is not the medicine we need , substitution is not a good thing. Cheap metal subsitutes ruin economies by dealuing the currency. One example is Germany prior to WWII. The country printed prodigious amounts of paper money, inflation ran amock and the ensuing economic depression precipitated Germanys invasions. Countries in North Africa have soft currencies and also use tin and brass coins. It is worth nothing outside the country, the currency does not have anything to back it up, no gold, no silver, no copper, just invested assets. Our investments abroad cause jobs to be lost. The asinine Obama proposal cuts costs of production while we print paper money to excess. Obama is President of a Democratic capitalist country, which he must wake up someday and realize the fact adopting Third World monetary management principles will not sole our problem Obama is striving to assist the economically marginalized in our country, but he is robbing us the middle class of what they work for, he is denying the need for increased taxes on all imports.
