I would like to share a Louisiana tradition from when I was - TopicsExpress

I would like to share a Louisiana tradition from when I was growing up in Baton Rouge. Each mothers day, the churches would have large vases filled with sweetpeas. One vase had white sweet peas and the other had red and pink flowers. As you arrived for church services, you were given a white sweetpea flower to pin on your dress if your mother had died and if she was alive, you got a red or pink flower to honor her. I suspicion that this tradition has faded out, but it was such a wonderful thing to honor mothers.
