I would like to share the views of a fellow educator regarding continuing profession development (CPD) for leadership courses. Are we making CPD more assessible? - George Er Whats the need to make a simple education field so complex with all these new paper chase? Include a leadership module in the degree course and you make many people happy. A leadership diploma part time course easily put another 2 years in ones career building. In my school, the senior teacher is not given HR management task, she is usually tasked to assist the supervisor in monitoring the junior teachers lesson plan. Is a leadership diploma required then? Ask around those in the field, is advancement in paper qualification important for those who are already in the field or the paper chase is only applicable to those fresh grads? I know so many experienced teachers who worked in the field for more than 10 years who has no intention to further upgrade their paper qualification but are just simply asking for the upgrade in their salary. The authority should educate the public this preschool childcare job is a professional teacher job and they demand salary higher than $3000 for a senior teacher and over $3000 too for supervisors..... To add on to the fresh grads observation, IMHO, ECDA should do a check on those fresh Poly ECCE grads who fill up position in CCC and Kindergartens. I have received quite a few practicum poly teachers and not even one that our school had mentor join the field immediately after graduating. Almost all further their study in a degree course. Those committed experienced teachers are now given a chance to further upgrade their qualification, but why another 2 years? Is a leadership course requires such a long time to study? Maybe I am wrong here so anyone can correct me what is the duration of a leadership diploma course? If the full time poly course can include the leadership module in the final year why it cannot be a standard module in the degree but another diploma rather? Else make it just one year part time study and many teachers with career advancement mindset might take up.
