I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my husband, - TopicsExpress

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my husband, Troy Davis on his official retirement. Although some have tried to for reasons unfounded, tried to undermine his career, it is very evident what a great impact he has had on education. He is the one person I can honestly say puts children/students first. I can attest to that personally because I have watched it for over 20 years. His dedication and loyalty to Irwin County and Lowndes County is immeasurable. For those who know him know that he always puts others before himself and has no regrets what so ever for it. I cannot count the times that he missed watching his children in their activities because he was talking to parents at the ball field, teachers at dance recitals, or on the phone any other time. Many nights and 4 a.m. mornings were spent trying to find grants or other ways to provide resources for teachers, administrators, and staff without any hesitations or second thoughts cannot be measured. If anyone asked him a question or told him they needed something he did what ever it took to answer the question or fulfill the need. According to community leaders he will be revered for his positive impact on the city and county and was instrumental with the defeat of consolidation. He was asked on numerous occasions to speak at public forums on the fiscal impact of consolidation on not only Lowndes but Valdosta City Schools as well. I know I am rambling; however, I would still be writing this time tomorrow night if I talked about all of his accomplishments within the educational system. All I can say is the Lowndes County School System and educators throughout the state are minus one GREAT educator. I am so proud of him and his accomplishments and know he will do even greater things in retirement. ENJOY IT TROY YOU DESERVE IT.
