I would like to take this time to congratulate the Cathedral - TopicsExpress

I would like to take this time to congratulate the Cathedral Family for a great game against my Salesian Mustangs. As Catholic school brothers we displayed the kind of sportsmanship and dignity reflective in our parents collective sacrifices to improve the lives of their sons. We do honor our Lord by our collective pursuit of competition and fair play. Today a victor, tomorrow maybe not but once again the scoreboard has little to do with marking or defining us a winners as only our effort will. My brother Jaime Corona coached many years at Cathedral. When word went out of his deteriorating health many former Cathedral players came to the hospital and to his services to show love and support after his passing. Attending the game was difficult but it was necessary. I do wish my brother Jaime Corona could have seen the game in person but Im sure he had better seats up above. A few years ago I was on the sidelines when the Phantoms played Bishop Amat @ home Sept. 30, 2011. The Phantom team was loaded with freshmen but my brother, the Defensive Coordinator at the time, played them all. The final was 7-56 Lancer and one thing I remember most about that game was my brother never giving up on his players and his players never giving up on him. When the cheap shots and verbal taunting started, as it does in blow outs, he reminded his players to play the game right. I was surprised this Saturday when Cathedral didnt take a knee with less than 20 seconds in the game and was glad the refs thought better to throw a meaningless flag, and call back the last TD, and call the game early with the score already 58-20. My brother would probably have said, Take a knee but hes not here so I wont speak for him. Instead Ill let him speak for himself and hope his words ring true today, and in the coming years, as catholic school brothers Cathedral and Salesian renew our very passionate rivalry. Okay brother the floor is yours. https://facebook/video.php?v=1673781159760
