I would like to thank all of those who came to the Meet and Greet - TopicsExpress

I would like to thank all of those who came to the Meet and Greet we had at the capitol yesterday. Especially those who came to meet with their senator Josh, Kevin, Ray, Mike, Sarah, and Holly (sorry if I missed anyone it was a busy day). I would also like to thank Wisconsin Fathers for Children and Families for cohosting the event with us. We are looking forward to working with you more. Yesterday we meet with 12 different senators or their staff and the majority of the meetings went really well. What I did find was that there seems to be some misconceptions on what the bill will do. It seems that some believe that by having the law say equalize instead of maximize it means that it will always 50/50 placement and that isnt always right for the child so that is why the law should stay the same. I tried explaining to these people that changing the law to say equalize does not mean that everyone will have 50/50 placement but that it is simply a starting point. Then depending on the situation the placement can be changed depending on what is best for the child. We are still going to be meeting and educating the legislation and public on what happens in family court and how this bill will help not only fathers but most importantly children. If you have questions or would like to help in the effort you can email us at dadsofwi@yahoo. We also need donations to continue to the mission. Everyone involved at Dads of Wisconsin are volunteers and our expenses do add up. Both the president and vice president of Dads of Wisconsin are retired and I am working full time and raising 3 step-sons (including child support). Even if you are not able to donate reach out to those around you. If anyone has fundraising ideas send us an email. We are low on funds after yesterdays Meet and Greet. Thank you all for your support Laura
