I would never want to be misunderstood as attacking other - TopicsExpress

I would never want to be misunderstood as attacking other Christians. The only provocation Im interested in being a part of is MERCY. What Im seeking to do is stand with those who are actually being attacked: women and their children who are being spat upon for their choice of clothing, children who are daily being bullied for being terrorists because they are Middle Eastern (regardless of their faith!), places of worship that are being vandalised, people who are receiving death threats (seriously, think about what that does to your family) because of their faith, and someone attempting to throw a women from a train (YES, THAT HAS ALL HAPPENED IN AUSTRALIA IN THE LAST WEEKS!!). So when Christians fuel unquestioning nationalism designed to further alienate attacked people while feeding the fear of a minority group, you bet I pray for the courage call that out for what it is. BUT I pray, (and ask for your help) that I would grow in doing it in such a way that people see Gods beauty, not my brokenness. Im a sinner, like all of Gods children. As much as I disagree with the conclusions of my brother (by grace) Fred Nile, he may yet still be less problematic than me regardless of his politics. Yet may my messiness point to the beauty of Jesus, who stands with the lost, the last, the least, the left out and overlooked. May people not see me, but the enchanting beauty of Christ who chose to became the scapegoat, so we no longer have to scapegoat others. In conclusion, my detractors are right when they say Im a problematic jerk. But dear Lord, I want to be more like Jesus. And thats what Common Grace is about. Its this confession: I want to be less like a jerk, and more like Jesus. #ChristianJerksAnonymous
