I would say the police should be ashamed of themselves for their behavior last night, but they shouldnt just be ashamed, they should be punished. We were all sitting in my friends apartment because the cops were marching down the street in their military-esque equipment. One person did something unwise and yelled something at the cops just as the door closed. The person who should be ensuring our safety then broke in the door. We tried to close the door and tell him he did not have permission to be in the apartment and he pepper sprayed our friend Ian and slammed the door. The spray leaked through the apartment and made many people sick and triggered my girlfriend, Adelyn Nottingham (a disability student of wvu for her extreme asthma) to have An asthma attack and making her gasp for air. I called paramedics and they arrived shortly thereafter. While tending to Addie my friend began shouting police brutality as the police swarmed him (they hate being called out I guess) they were pushing him down the road telling him to go home he yelled and one pushed him and he pushed back, which was unwise... However, no matter how much that one act pissed off the authorities it wasnt a real threat. So what was the response of the brilliant officers or Morgantown? One hit him in the knee with a baton (sufficient enough to disable someone) and then right after another picked him up and threw him on his back in the road. He hit his head and was knocked out. We rushed to help and they started yelling and pointing at us telling us to get away from him... Apparently it is now illegal to help people... The police are warranted too much power that they abuse without a second thought ... Its good to not be able trust the people who are supposed to protect you and to actually be afraid of them.
