I wrote this as a comment, but decided to post it...(a bit long though...) Today there was supposed to be a group hug meeting on George square for the yes voters to meet up, thank one another for the support and console one another, it was meant to be a light hearted meeting and even the media turned up for it (first time ive seen that much media around the yes camp...) and this is how it started out, it was a lovely atmosphere, albeit a bit sad. I left for about an hour to pick a few folks up and brought them over, by the time i got back, most of the yes camp had left and the square was covered of police and blockades. It turned out that it was a gathering from the orange order (the more extreme part of it) had come marching down from two sides onto George square chanting and jeering and had surrounded the yes camp, jeering them on, police not getting involved and eventually they drove most of the yessers away and I saw big guys chasing after wee girls threatining them, mixed english, northern irish and scottish folks, extremely aggressive looking for a fight, swearing and screaming the anger in their eyes, even some of the kids theyd brought along...it was truly disgusting and I am shocked over what is ok in this world.. I know for a fact this isnt representative of the no camp and has nothing to do with rangers, its a deprived element of our society, the evil thats spread out amongst our populations that are giving us ALL a bad name. Whats really sad is that even though this isnt the no camp...its the no camp they associate with.... for you no voters there that are passionately for the union, one thing you do need to understand, and I hope you gracefully can, we have been bombarded by negativity by the media, on tv, in the newspapers and on the radio, and even on social media no-voters are looking to debate us (some quite interesting, others are just on to make noise) and when we are out campaigning, aggressive people hiding behind the union jack jeer us, they come out with hate and violence, this is the visual part of the no-campaign...you need to understand that even though you might be for better together, these people arent, these people spread fear and hate. So, please, theres no need for you to make fun or gloat, or tell us to grow up or accept this temporary defeat, we believe in a bright future, one of hope and community and we are going to continue to fight for it, but with hope and positivity! It is we, the hopeful, that will make YOUR life better!!! are you still one of us, the hopeful?
