I wrote this as a note to Dan and forgot to post regarding seeing Disneys Maleficent. I thought it was an excellent family-friendly movie and recommend it. Really fun twists using lots of original elements from the animated feature of the 50s, yet a nice modern day re-imagined fairy tale. I was reminded of Wicked but it was not derivative of it. This movie is likely in time for the Disney Parks to reimagine some of their dated Fairytale rides and attractions. Those 50s and 60s fairies and princesses seem very old school these days, but Id have to ask some children. It seems the parks should keep up with the tastes of 21st Century kids and movie goers. Im almost certain they must be planning it. Im glad they landed on this idea instead of a live action version of the old movie, or why bother?
