I wrote this for my second book I hope my friends reads this and let me know what they really think The World Today As the war still goes on in Afghanistan and Iraq And here at home in the United states we still fear the threat of another terrorist attack Families are losing their homes and the jobless rate continues to rise And all we hear from our government is a pack of lies At any cost they want to push their idea of health care through All of us in America that use to believe in the red white and blue We see we are losing more and more of our freedom each day The economy is getting worse and it seems it will stay that way We all see and feel for the people in Haiti who survived the earthquake We all try to help by sending donations if we have any left after the government gets through with their take After the bailouts to wall street and the car makers in Detroit we are left with so little to spare It is hard to believe that the people in Washington about their own people really care Do you remember when we were all proud of our country that was fair and strong Then we had a few presidents that did what they wanted and did everything that was wrong Now we have more and more people going hungry and living on the street And taxes they say will not go up is rising and its hard for people to make ends meet We need people in charge that will take care of the problems at home and stop sending our children to other countries to fight and die While they spend like crazy and then tell all of us a bunch of lies The United states use to be the land of dreams and they called it the land of milk and honey Now we are the ones that all the Government does is tax us like crazy and take all the money
