I wrote this on how we have been disunited on the BH menace in reaction to a post I was tagged in on FB...... The reason I refrain from making certain comments stems from the fact that we as a people have refused to see the complexities inherent in our nation Nigeria and as a result we have continued to lash out in anger and deep frustration. Nigeria is deep under ethnic disunity and this has necessarily shaped most actions carried out by people in all spheres and even when you turn blind eye to this monster and decide to play it right, you will find out that those who you thought were not infested with this virus are also deliberately muttering this under their breath so when we should unite for a national cause we see people pulling on all fronts for different reasons. Sometimes I pity us all because we have become products of what the political class engineered over the years and in that frustration we lash out at government even when its obviously a matter for national unity that calls for patriotism. Before I begin to sound too academic, let me also say that these complexities have also eaten deep into our various governmental institutions most especially our custodians of security and has disunited them as they too also have been neglected deliberately for decades to indirectly remain malnourished so as to remain unable to carry out their proper functions and this is the outfit the present administration is supposed to be working with to magically extinct BH! I know for one that the more we blame the government for inability, the more we play out the script of the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. We must realize that the nation is under siege and we must rise and stand in unity with the government to say no to the continuous waste of innocent blood. When the twin towers of world trade center were brought down with planes as bombs, America did not ask for the Presidents head and its on record that his popularity was at a very low ebb before the incident, they stood up united on all fronts knowing that they had a common enemy who was not George bush, they cried together, prayed together and hoped for a better and stronger nation resolving not to allow fear push them into blame games. Sad as it may seem, there is a script by some disgruntled elements to use the decayed security system infested with ethnic divisions and loyalties to discredit the government so we can help them hound them out. I hold no brief for GEJ but I think we must read between the lines and realize when it is a patriotic call for unity no matter our divides, Nigerias survival will not come unless we realize the truth of unity and patriotism so as to stand when we ought!
