I wrote this poem and produced this video to honor and remember the heroes that sparked the fire that brought freedom to Romania 25 years ago today Dec 15, 1989. Also this year the Romanian people finally elected someone who seems to be a true lover of freedom in President Iohannis. God bless Romania! Liberty and tyranny By Daniel George We watched a land from far away The view was always much obscured By comrades who would often say Those freedoms are a false allure. No one believed their lies and spin Because the truth will never die And while their tyrannies still win We pray that God will hear our cry. The power that we gave them then To make all equal and all fair It just revealed that trusting men Will lead to sorrow and despair. For forty years they ruled us all So many promises were made Their paradise behind the wall For freedom now we want to trade. How do we change this evil yoke Without the shedding of our blood? Our spirit and our will they broke Our holy souls are stained with mud. There are a few who wont be bowed We pray their courage will ignite The freedom that once made us proud To stand up without fear and fight.
