I wrote this soon after a co-worker broke up with his girlfriend and he decided to put a bullet in his head. After this incident, I was surprised how many people were angry about it. I, on the other hand, felt sadness and sense of personal loss. Of course, an act of suicide is frowned upon in society as selfish, but when one truly thinks about it, its actually an act of loneliness and hopelessness. (And Im not including religious fanatics or acts of heroism to save others lives, which would have totally different connotations behind it.) I miss my co-worker and friend. He and I would BS about what the new working day would bring and we always joked about it. I never saw this coming, and I think that is most frightening of all for me. This is song #581. A FRIEND’S SUICIDE YOU FOUND SOLACE WHEN YOU LOST YOURSELF. A GUIDANCE YOU COULDN’T COPE. IT GROUNDED YOU TO THE ENDINGS OF LIFE, WHICH STOPPED AND GAVE NO HOPE. SUICIDE CAN SHORTEN A LIFE, LONG BEFORE IT IS GONE. IT CAN BLIND ALL THE LOVE WITH THE STRIFE. MAKING TRUTH SEEM WRONG (SOLO) SUICIDE WON’T END ALL THE BLAME. THE MEMORIES LIVE IN YOUR FRIENDS. AND AS A FAMILY COPES WITH THE PAIN, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER WILL END. A FRIENDS SUICIDE BRINGS ON THE FEARS. IT’S A DARKNESS THAT DWELLS. AND AS WE FIGHT THROUGH THE SORROW OF TEARS, WE REFLECT ON OURSELVES. YOU LEFT HOPE ALONE IN THE DARK. A CHILL BLOWS QUIETLY THROUGH AIR, AND AS THE WORLD SLOWLY PASSES ON BY, WE STILL WISH YOU WERE HERE. Written and performed by Wayde K.
