ICRC concluded Phase Second of Emergency Training A two day training workshop of second phase of Emergency Room Trauma Course for doctors organized by Directorate of Health Services. Kashmir (DHSK) in collaboration with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) concluded today at Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Dhobiwan. The ICRC trainers and facilitators included Dr Francios Irmay (Senior Surgeon, ICRC Geneva), Dr Rohit Shrestha (ICRC ERTC Consultant, Nepal), Ms. Danielle Hannon Burt (Team Leader ICRC, J&K), Ms. Farhana Javaid (Health Field Officer, ICRC, J&K). The department is stressing to follow the continuum of care, starting from pre-hospital care to extensive care at the emergency room of different peripheral hospitals across Kashmir Valley so that there is better deliverance of care in stabilizing and managing emergency patients. This was a follow up of the Basic Life Saving (BLS) training that was conducted in Oct 2011 by Dr Eric Bernes ICRC Coordinator for First Aid and Phase I of ERTC which was conducted by ICRC under Dr Hassan Nasreddine, Chief Surgeon ICRC and Dr Asa Molde , Consultant Surgeon ICRC in April 2013. It is pertinent to mention here that more than 250 doctors of DHSK have been already trained for ERTC till date and the department is continuing its efforts in training more and more doctors so that emergency patients are managed in much better way.
