ICY CLOSE CALL SUNDAY-MONDAY: Were currently watching the computer model mayhem play out for the end of this weekend into early next week. Right now, there is at least some potential for icy precipitation in the Piedmont Sunday night into Monday. This is FAR from a sure thing. Computer model solutions vary from significant icing, to absolutely no precipitation at all. The struggle will be does an area of low pressure form off the coast, and can it send moisture our way. If it does, what will the surface temperatures be -- cold enough for freezing rain, or warm enough for plain old rain? There is no use saying that we definitely will or definitely wont see ice at this time, because it quite simply is too early to tell. Right now, Id put the odds of us seeing icy precipitation less than 30% -- but it needs to be watched CLOSELY! Not posting any model maps right now because I dont believe any of them to be close to what will actually happen. In the meantime get ready for the cold. - TB
