There is limited space available for this event. IDF invites all preteens and teens, ages 11 to 18, diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency diseases to an IDF Teen Escape! This exciting, free event is scheduled on November 9 - 10, 2013 at the Sheraton Needham Hotel in Needham, MA. The IDF Teen Escape weekend is an opportunity to acquaint preteens and teens diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency diseases with others like themselves. This weekend is filled with fun activities designed to promote friendship, build leadership skills and develop coping abilities. Age appropriate sessions will be presented by medical and life skills experts. Attendees will discuss what it means to live with a primary immunodeficiency disease with other participants and focus on transition and advocacy issues. There will be separate parent sessions that offer opportunities for parents to network and share ideas. What is the cost of this event? This event is free! However, a $50 deposit is required to reserve your space. Registration is all inclusive and covers your hotel room for Saturday night, meals (Saturday breakfast, lunch and teen dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch) and all programs. The entire deposit will be refunded after you attend the weekend. Therefore, the only expense to you is your transportation to and from the event. Event participants will pay for all “extra” charges incurred (including, but not limited to, telephone usage, movie rentals, Internet access charges, use of in-room amenities such as a snack bar or mini-refrigerator, room damage, room service, laundry, and any other charges or fees which are applied to the room at the participant’s request or due to the participant’s activities). The Immune Deficiency Foundation is honored to offer a scholarship based on financial need to families with teens diagnosed with a primary immunodeficiency disease on a first-come, first-served basis that live at least 100 miles from the Teen Escape location and need lodging the night before the event begins or any family, regardless of distance from the event, that can’t pay the $50 registration fee. What is the registration deadline? This event is very popular and fills quickly. Please register ASAP. What time does the event start? A kick-off breakfast is scheduled for teens and parents at 9:00 am on Saturday. This event concludes at 12:15 pm on Sunday. Can family members attend this event? Teens under age 18 must share their hotel with a parent/guardian. Parents/guardians are invited to attend the kick-off breakfast and a networking/education parent session on Saturday morning. All other events are for teens affected with primary immunodeficiency diseases only. Registration Register online at primaryimmune.org/events-calendar/ or contact the IDF Teen Program at 443.834.6832 or [email protected], if you have questions.
