"IF" we are a Nation of laws, then every law must apply equally to EVERY citizen, regardless of their socio-economic standing in our civilized society. If we are a Nation, which allows the "elite" to pick and choose which citizens must obey which laws, while exempting others from every law, then we are no different than N. Korea, China or Cuba, and the Republic is lost. "All men are created equal!" It is quite clear from the facts and actions spurred by these words and the battles undertaken in their defense that the men who drafted and adopted the Declaration of Independence had the idea of actual equality for all men in mind.
