IGG orders fresh search for Water boss The Inspector General of Government has ordered the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) to conduct a fresh recruitment process for a managing director. Ms Irene Mulyagonja ordered a draft advertisement in consultation with the consultant, in line with the NWSC Act, to ensure that the criteria set for identification of candidates are clear and leave no room for manipulation or conflict in shortlisting. In April, Ms Mulyagonja halted the recruitment process, citing investigations into various complaints of alleged gross irregularities in the recruitment of Mr Silver Mugisha. The IGG, who also faulted the former board for favouring the acting managing director, Mr Alex Gisagara, also criticised Water and Environment Minister Ephraim Kamuntu for putting the board under pressure. The position has been vacant since November 2011 when the contract of former managing director, Mr William Muhairwe, was not renewed. Six people were shortlisted for the job, but the battle has been between Mr Gisagara and Mr Mugisha, the chief manager Institutional Development and External Services. Source: Daily Monitor
