Ostrava, the 2014 Sports Capital of Europe saw great elite races which were accompanied by an extended inline skating programme featuring several kids´ and leisure races as well free skating on the WIC course with around 2,000 skaters. Early decision in the mens race Already after three laps, or 10 kilometres, Frenchmen Yann Guyader and his team mate Nolan Beddiaf, both from EOSkates, broke away advancing fast over the rest of the distance and arrived together at the finish with Beddiaf crossing first and Guyader second. At the beginning they were only challenged by the Czech National Skate Team lead by Ondrej Suchý who finished third. Yann Guyader commented It was a hard race because it is quite steep and you have to do 11 laps. We missed many of our international colleagues here who took part in the first three races of the WORLD INLINE CUP 2014, but I had a good partner in Nolan, that is why we crossed the finish line together. Womens race decided on the finish line only Three women broke away after half of the 11 laps and the race was decided through a sprint on the last 300 metres. Aleksandra Goss (POL, Jabra Roller Team) victory over Nicole Begg (NZL, X-Tech Team) had to be verified through the finish line camera. And even the third Katerina Novotná came in right on their heels - suspense until the very last centimetre. The victorious Goss stated I had two goals today: achieve my first victory In Ostrava after finishing second and third in previous years and to finish second in this years WORLD INLINE CUP, so I am very happy and can say: mission accomplished!.
