IGUIP: I.C. Norcom. Ive been getting some disturbing news about Norcoms Upper Management and the new test scores I am not supposed to know about yet. this story first broke when the Band Director unexpectedly quit last year before the Anniversary celebration. The timelines beat like a drum with so much information about the inner workings and displeasure at Norcom. There was even a special meeting at a City Council persons home. There was going to be a investigation. Everyone was HOT!! Then the Band Director graciously returned. That shouldnt have stopped the grievances and investigations because the complaints were not solely focussed on the band director. Somehow the Norcoms star studded Anniversary quelled the tempers and the story died-so I let the story die in IGUIP. Timing is important as a writer and in no way did I want to write about this story when Norcom was celebrating a milestone. The story was not complete. I just choose to let it simmer hoping it would boil down and reduce to nothing. It hasnt. This story is going to get written regardless at this point and anyone with a love or a stake in the school can contact me. The word doing out of the school like leaks in a boat is that there are a lot of uneasy ships on Norcoms ocean. I have been getting this news for some time but I refused to put it in pint. We have a tendency to shoot the messenger on facebook. Also I needed the story to be corroborated by more than one source. ( Yes- I have sources) ( Yes- people in Portsmouth treat IGUIP as a verified valid way to get news out). The News coming out of Norcom has to be handled with a long handled spoon. The alumni are deep, vocal , active and have ties that run like a long river. I have never been timid about stories that happen in my City but with Norcom I have found that my approach has been too standoffish. I dont cover Norcom with the candor I do other stories. I question my own journalistic integrity as to why I dont? The answer has simply been that I did not want to write anything that would hurt them. I respect the school and its history immensley. So I buried this story for a few months to see IF it would go away. It didnt so now I have to carry it. I have to carry it because- IC Norcom would want someone to air out grievances so they could be corrected debated intellectually and set to positive rest. I doubt this pioneer built this school so the administration and teachers would be unhappy. I think that this historian and learned man built this school to be a refuge for young minds and a place where educators felt a sense of accomplishment when they go home at night. Im looking to do interviews for my Norcom Administration Story with anyone who is willing to TALK about whats REALLY going on with the Principal. Student Body and Alumni. No SPIN. No Agenda. Lets just air out the grievances and stop burying the beef like old bones. People keep seeking me out for this story. People keep asking me to dig into it. People and I mean (Norcom Alumni) are asking me to write something factual and honest that reflects theyre concerns. They dont want another Hoops story, Band Story, or Football story even though all of these stories are a part of the larger story and the dissatisfaction with the Principal and the strategies being employed at I.C. Norcom. I may be the only person who would write this story. The only one who could be objective and unbiassed. The only one unconcerned with petty people who tend to shoot at the messenger because of theyre own insecurities or title. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION regarding the I.C Norcom that wants to be heard through me in a Interview article - INBOX me. You can be quoted or Anonymous.
