IJT rubbishes PU VC’s allegations Mujahid Kamran not Jamiat guilty to shelter members of outlaw LAHORE: While rubbishing the new reports connecting arrested terrorists from Punjab University (PU) with Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT), the Nazim of IJT Punjab South, Ray Haq Nawaz Tuesday said the efforts were aimed at punishing Jamiat for its pro-education and pro-students policies. Flanked by Nazim Islami Jamiat Talaba Punjab University Abdul Muqeet and regional Nazim Behram Saeed, Nawaz strongly refuted the news reports, saying Jamiat had never been involved in any terrorist activity. “The Jamiat strongly believes that the way adopted by secret organization is totally wrong” he said categorically and added that Jamiat was a great supporter of democratic revolution. The IJT leader said that Jamiat had never given shelter to the member of any secret organization and the PU management was trying to show the involvement of Jamiat in order to hide its own incompetence. Nawaz said that Mujahid Kamran had been Vice-Chancellor of the university for the last six years and it was not the first time that he had resorted to malign Jamiat. He reminded that the vice chancellor had setup his own private army but was unwilling to provide security guards to the student. He said the university administration had been illegally allotting rooms to such elements, which could be used for the character assassination of Jamiat. “But Mujahid Kamran should know that Jamiat can not be pushed to wall through his cheap tactics”, he said He reminded it was the responsibility of the PU administration to check and ensure that the member of Al-Qaeda or any other outlaw may not enter and reside in the hostels, meant for accommodating students. The IJT leader advised VC of PU to concentrate on solving the problems and bring merit in awarding the hostel rooms so that his administration may not give shelter to the outlaws. Nawaz said that Jamiat had been an open book which was struggling for the democratic values, while actively playing its role in the national issues besides working for the rights of students. He warned the PU administration to refrain from the character assassination of Jamiat which is the largest student organization of Asia, having millions of present and former workers and supporters.
