Today that would be referred to as an "omnibus bill." In the case of the Roman senators who tried to get their own piece of legislation passed by combining it with other unrelated items on the same bill, they barricaded themselves inside the Senate chamber but were stoned to death by angry citizens who broke through the roof of the Senate to kill them."
