#ILoveHistory: "William Kosinar • 3 days ago The Roman Senate passed a law in 100 B.C. against this kind of thing - they made it illegal for the Roman Senate to try to pass any law which contained two or more unrelated things as a way to get people to have to vote for both in order to get one or the other. Today that would be referred to as an "omnibus bill." In the case of the Roman senators who tried to get their own piece of legislation passed by combining it with other unrelated items on the same bill, they barricaded themselves inside the Senate chamber but were stoned to death by angry citizens who broke through the roof of the Senate to kill them."
