*** IMAM RECEIVES WM POLICE CHIEF CONSTABLE AWARD *** * .……… * ………. * ………* ........... * .……… * ………. * ………* ......... * Monday 15.9.2014 Imam Ghulam Rasool received prestigious recognition award from WM Police Chief Constable Chris Simms for the success of Operation Clockface - that led to the capture, arrest, charge, trial and long term 40yrs sentence for Pavlo Lapshyn the Ukrainian murderer, terrorist and serial bomber that nail bombed Tipton Central Mosque Kanz ul Iman and other Mosques in Walsall and Wolverhampton as well as murdering the elderly gentleman Muhammed Saleem in Birmingham. As fellas for providing advice, reassurance and engagement during the EDL protests and problems in local schools the work I delivered within the Inclusive Muslim Action Network in Sandwell. I dedicate this award to Tipton Central Mosque Kanz ul Iman, its leadership and its surrounding communities who all pulled together in solidarity at the time of the deadly bombing on 12.7.14 ensuring this act of terrorism does not divide, undermine or fragment us as intended by the bomber. But it resulted in strengthening our resolve, whole community was cooperative with the authorities without any incident and learning lessons to be shared with others. I am proud to receive this award and seek your prayers as well as sincerely thank you all for your best wishes. Citation on the award as read out by Detective Chief Superintendent Sue Southern says: For your significant contribution to the success of Operation Clockface. During the investigation you provided calm reassurance promoting the best of Sandwell as a cohesive community united against hate and violence, which allowed the local policing teams and detectives to go about their extensive work as professionally as possible. It was doubly memorable occasion as my mother, wife and youngest son were there when I received the award. Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale congratulated my mother and wife for my efforts and told them that I was outstanding in the time of confusion and unfolding challenges especially dealing calmingly with the media and liaising with the Police and community effectively. .…………………………………..................................................................................................... Dear Ghulam Rasool, I am pleased to inform you that you have been nominated for an award in relation to the valuable assistance you provided to us during the investigation into the murder of Mohammed Saleem and the three Mosque bombings which led to the subsequent conviction of Pavlo Lapshyn. An awards ceremony is taking place on Monday 15th September 2014 as follows: Lord Knights Suite, Tally Ho, Pershore Road, Birmingham, B5 7RN. The contribution you made was integral to the success of this Investigation, we would therefore be delighted if you were available to attend this prestigious occasion.
