IMC Pick of The Day Change of Heart by Jon - TopicsExpress

IMC Pick of The Day Change of Heart by Jon Gibson Longtime “Contemporary Christian Music (CCM)” artist Jon Gibson has created music for over 30 years. . . his way by his rules. Jon is the epitome of that West Coast / Blue-Eyed Soul sound. Considered early in his career as the “white Stevie Wonder,” Jon has proved over and over that he is not going anywhere. I am pretty sure that I have everything Jon released, but Im choosing “Change of Heart” from the 1988 same titled LP because of its funky feel. The message is somewhat heavy but delivered in a way that makes you want to get up a move yoself, body and soul. The personnel on this are definitely A list. On sax is Jons longtime friend, jazz artist; Eric Marienthal, whose solo has that Huey Lewis and The News feel. My own long time friend, Tony Patler is playing on this as well. . . guitar and keys, Bob Somma is on guitar. You might remember his work on Paula Abduls 1988 release; Forever Your Girl, and 80s funk group General Kane keyboardist; Tim Heintz. Side notes: Tony Patler had previously been a part of Chaka Khans band along with Michael Ruff and when Michael left, stepped in and became Chakas musical director, during the 1986 release of her Destiny LP. Tony and Tim Heintz then went onto be a part of Funk, New Jack Swing, General Kane. Every time I play this song, I cant help but want to get up and move. Being a native Californian, I feel that 80s West Coast vibe that was so prevalent then. So L.A. If you havent heard the entire album, please take the time to. Love this album. I dont think there is a Jon Gibson tune that Ive ever disliked. The guy has soul running through his veins. He is the real deal. Jon, if you are reading this. . .you are the man!! Thank you for making great music that has stood the test of time.
