IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTICE: Summer camp opportunity for ages 15-18! Shanna Francis from Eskasoni is looking for students ages 15 - 18 from Paqtnkek to attend her Nikani Awtiken (Trail Blazing or Creating a New Path) Camp. For all wanting to apply for this opportunity please send a message to this page with names and contact information. Serious inquiries will receive a more detailed package and application form. It is an 8 day camp that will take place in mid-august. This camp provides hands-on opportunities for youth to explore career and academic options in natural resource management and traditional perspectives of sustainability. It is hosted by the Mikmaq Environmental learning Centre (MELC). The camp will take place in Richmond County at Camp Rankin. The three main goals are: 1. To provide training for youth to pursue careers in natural resource management. 2. To help re-connect youth with nature. 3. To help re-connect youth with traditional Mikmaq values.
