*****IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MONTCO DPS***** Montgomery County will change the frequencies on which emergency responder’s radios operate at noon, Thursday, Sept. 5th as part of the federally mandated rebanding project. First responders should stop using the Old channels with an (O) designation on the left side of the radio’s display screen and switch to the new bank of channels that do not have that designation. The new bank of channels will operate on different frequencies from the old bank of channels. They cannot communicate with each other. Please review the need to Stop using the channels with (O) on the display screen with all members of your organization. Montgomery County is under a federal mandate to change the frequencies that it uses for emergency dispatch communications to eliminate interference that may be caused by the cellular phone industry. This process is commonly referred to as “rebanding.” The next phase of the rebanding project will involve having technicians come out to your station to remove the old frequencies from the radios your organization uses.
