IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING THE FUTURE OF THE MICRO-LIBRARY! I will be moving away from Lewisham in about 4 weeks time so we need to find a new chief librarian to keep it looking nice and tidy once Im gone. My family will be moving house in April. I will be very sad to say goodbye to that phone box, but now its time to find someone else to take it over from me. Most days its not a lot of work, just a two minute tidy when Im on the way to work in the morning, and the same again every evening on the way home. But sometimes theres a bit more work, I pick up bits of rubbish nearby, maintain the lights, clean the windows, and sometimes trim the branches above so it never looks neglected. Its basically an allotment with books. I know many of you make lots of little contributions to keep it nice, but Im looking for one person to assume the responsibility of Chief Librarian The person Im looking for will need to live very close by, be a long term resident, have basic DIY skills and be a bit of a weirdo like me. Also you will need a little 3 step ladder. To that person I will give the special pot of red paint, plus some replacement bits of glass, also you will be made administrator of the Facebook page. Anyone applying for the position should be aware of the following: 1, The micro-library is not to be used for any commercial use, political propaganda or self promotion. 2, The same goes for the Facebook page 3, Clare Cowan of the Brockley Society helped me set it up, so as a matter of courtesy the Brockley Society should be informed, consulted and respected over any changes. 4, as a listed building the external appearance must be maintained. Please can all applicants email [email protected] by Monday 17th march. I will hold interviews at the Talbot Pub on Sunday 23rd. Its a job with no salary and no prospects of promotion, but when you bump into someone there and say Im the librarian you will feel very proud. S-
