IMPORTANT UPDATE regarding reports of bogus animal control officers collecting pedigree dogs, allegedly masquerading as Auckland Council animal management officers (AMOs). PLEASE SHARE. Reports of bogus animal control officers collecting pedigree dogs, allegedly masquerading as Auckland Council animal management officers (AMOs) are causing confusion. There is a suggestion that such a scam has been operating in the Waikato and that it has moved to Auckland. A picture on the facebook page Inspector Spot of a council officer in a council branded vehicle is being suggested as one of the bogus operators. This picture has been repeated and commented on several times. The picture is of an offical Auckland Council animal management officer (AMO) and is not a bogus operator. Continued publication of this picture is causing problems for our AMOs. Auckland Council AMOs are on duty 24/7 to keep Aucklanders safe from animal-related harm and nuisance. Please be aware that the vehicles and people depicted in the below photographs are authentic Auckland Council AMOs and vehicles. Auckland Council has a mixture of grey and white Hyundai iLoad vans and a number of grey Ford Ranger 4wd utes (with canopies) operating within the region. Our Animal Management vehicles - regardless of the colour or type - can easily be identified by the Auckland Council logo. All AMOs carry official Auckland Council identification with them and will always show this when they are visiting an address (if requested). In addition to this they are all dressed in navy blue uniforms with the Auckland Council logo. Please let your facebook followers know this so our AMOs can continue to keep Aucklander’s safe from animal related harm and nuisance. People should contact the police immediately if they have dealings with, or observe other vehicles operating within Auckland that don’t look like the photographs
