IN DEFENSE OF... John MacArthur I recently saw a FB post that asked the question define Pharisee. One FB expert :) replied… “John MacArthur” Well... with that post the expert became one. Let’s remember that the Pharisee’s rejected the claims of our Lord before a full investigation. They couldnt accept His claims because He threatened their worldly systems, thinking and pleasures. Contempt prior to investigation equates to ignorance. And while this FB “expert” who condemned Dr. MacArthur may have heard someone else speak or write about him I doubt that he has spent much time reading or exploring the full body of MacArthur’s work. The fact is Dr. MacArthur has taken a stand against much of the false teaching that is prevalent in the church today and for this reason he is being called a “Pharisee”. Well if this is true than you need to throw him in with other notables such as C.H. Spurgeon, Martin Luther and of course the Apostle Paul. Personally, my wife and I have endured an extended season of severe trial and it has been Dr. MacArthur’s unwavering dedication to scholarship and teaching that has strengthened our faith. Most recently, as happenings reached the pinnacle of affliction his message on “When Bad things happen to God’s people”, has provided us with the courage to “press on toward the prize of winning Christ”. Thank you Dr. John MacArthur a hero of the faith!
