IN HIGH COURT Kempe Gowda Layout tenders to be scrapped TNN Bangalore: The government on Thursday informed the high court that a decision had been taken to call off the controversial financial tenders for road work in Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Layout,proposed to be developed near Kengeri. Government advocate R Devdas placed before the court a communication stating it will call the tenders afresh after calling off the bids of the BJP government.A division bench headed by Chief Justice DH Waghela recorded the contents of the communication and disposed of the PIL challenging the tenders. The PIL was filed by V Manjunatha,who claimed that against the Rs 991.25 crore put to tender,the negotiated amount runs to Rs 2,200.15 crore,a whopping Rs 1208.90 crore in excess. According tohim,the whole exercise was to appease the BJP government and also fund election campaign.He said though the BDA had issued an acquisition notification for 4,043 acres 27 guntas,till date,only 1,441 acres are in possession of the BDA,and this fact was completely overlooked.
