IN THEIR SIMPLICITY (3) “Those who were supposed to lead these people led them down blind alleys, and those who followed the leaders ended up lost and confused.” Isaiah 9:16 THE MESSAGE This is what I am trying to drive at. There are many believers in the church of God today who faithfully, but ignorantly follow every word of their pastors and through it err out of the truth and not aware that their pastors are giving them what they want to hear so that they will be ready to give lavishly. They believe their pastors so much that they do not doubt any of their words. They see their pastors and leaders as people who can never make mistakes. They do not bother to crosscheck their messages if they are biblical or not. Their leaders have won their hearts to themselves rather to God that they regard them as gods. Their allegiance is to their general overseers, pastors, prophets, and leaders and not to God. We have some churches that they pay obeisance to their general overseers / founders as supreme beings. This is total heresy and against biblical teachings. There is tendency for anybody to make mistakes, it is only God that can never make any mistake. Peter, the first leader of the New Testament church made mistake and was corrected by Paul, the apostle, who was not even among the twelve disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Galatians 2:11-14) The early believers searched the scriptures to confirm those things that were preached to them. They didn’t just accept the word, but first confirmed if it is true despite how hard it was to get scriptures in those days. “Now these [Jews] were better disposed [and] more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they were entirely ready [and] accepted [and] welcomed the message [concerning the attainment through Christ of eternal salvation in the kingdom of God] with inclination of mind [and] eagerness, searching [and] examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” Acts. 17:11 Amplified bible To be continue....
