INBOX OF THE DAY: Hi Carla. I have a question about the PRC thing: What happens when a highly qualified surgeon/doctor comes to Bermuda from some other part of the world to devote his time and energy to serving our populations healthcare needs, as there are no qualified Bermudians. He brings his wife and they start a family here. The children are schooled here and at the age of 18+ they are told they can no longer live or even work here. Is that fair? Is the doctor to then uproot his family and move to another part of the world where his talents are more appreciated because Bermuda doesnt want to accept his entire family? Or is that situation different because he is a professional as oppose to labourer? Seems as though many people want to benefit from the talents/skills that foreigners bring to our shores but on the other end want to kick them in the butt and send them packing when it suits their needs. Bermudians also have a place to go when we get tired of these shores. Thanks to the Queen we can pick up and move to England and other parts if we choose to. So tired of hearing that we have no other place to go, whereas the foreigner can go back to their homeland. I think the bigger picture is that we as Bermudians need to teach our children that there is a bigger world out there and that they can compete and do anything they choose to do ... instill a drive and desire in them to do better than the next person and that we are not limited by this small island. I know some will say they dont like how the decision has been made (neither do I) but what about the real issue at hand ... treating people fairly who have devoted 25 years + to this island.
