INCIDENT CALL. At 1525 this afternoon we were called to possible bush alight in the Watagan Mountains. Upon arrival we found the informant and he took us into a smouldering campfire. We extinguished the coals, thanked the informants and returned to station. Its very disappointing to attend incidents as these. Not because we get called to a nothing fire but because some reckless campers have left this campfire to burn out not thinking or caring about the possible consequences. As we explained to the friendly recreational 4wd informants, that we would rather attend this now and deal with it in 3 minutes than to be called here a week later once the hot winds blew it into the bush and spend days trying to extinguish. Message - if you camp in ANY bushland: 1) Take all your rubbish with you. 2) Use designated camping areas and fireplace areas. 3) And most importantly EXTINGUISH YOUR CAMPFIRE. Even though the below is for camping within NSW National Parks they are good guidelines for camping ANYWHERE. Particularly points 4,5 and 6 nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/safety/camping
