INCREDIBLE GROUP BLASTS FRANKLIN ISONG, THE RADAR NEWSPAPER *SAYS IT IS ILLEGAL *IT IS AN EYESORE- MEDIA EXPERT. BY REVELATION ISREAL. Uyo Youth Movement, a non-governmental organization has condemned in strong terms the recent publication on the pages of The Radar Newspaper against the chairman of Uyo local government Area Hon. Ekerette Ekpenyong describing such publication as uncivilized, barbaric and contrary to journalism practice in the nation. The chairman of the forum Mr. Abel George who told newsmen said that, the Radar Newspaper is neither registered with the national library, nor any chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist in Akwa Ibom State. He urged the reading public to avoid reading such newspaper as it is capable of publishing a bias news item. Mr. Abel George advised the chairman and executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalist never to allow the unregistered Radar newspaper to be on the street until it is appropriately registered by the National Library, NUJ Chapel, the Newspaper Distributors Association of Nigeria and other appropriate authorities. He however described the editor of the newspaper Mr. Franklin Isong as a hustler, political jobber who is fond of blackmailing other people with a view of gaining relevance. ‘Franklin Isong is not a member of Nigerian Guild of Editors, so why should he parade himself as editor? Look! Enough of that his non sense, this thing (referring to the newspaper) does not have ISBN number, it does not have qualified staff, it is not registered with any of the chapels of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, it is not also registered with the newspaper distributors association… as you are aware any newspaper that operate without the aforementioned features is illegal. Franklin should be bold to tell the public why he left Insight Global Newspaper…who told him there is problem in Uyo local government area?’ he questioned. Mr. George stressed that there was no crises in Uyo Local Government council, pointing out that, the commissioner for Environment Mr. Enobong Uwah and the chairman of the council were united. In his reaction, Peter Edo described the newspaper as village newspaper, stressing that it was not objective, truthful and accurate but a mere gossip and speculation. A councilor in Uyo local government council who opted for anonymity wondered why the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalist should allow a riff-raff to tarnish the integrity of the pen profession and urged the union to curb the menace. On why Mr. Franklin Isong was sacked from the prestigious Insight Global Newspaper, a staff of the Newspaper outfit said that, he was fond of staining the integrity of the medium. He portrayed Isong as a man who claims to know everything but does not know anything except blackmail. He said that, the House of Assembly beats that was previously covered by Isong has been reassigned to one of their staff. In his reaction, a media expert Mr. Samuel Okposong described the Radar Newspaper as an eyesore, pointing out that, the second edition was an embodiment of colour riot and poor page planning. ‘That boy must attend a good higher institution, someone said he has an Ordinary National Diploma from one of the evening schools (IIJ), he should proceed to a good higher institution so as to be well educated… at present, Franklin Isong is an ‘intellectual fool’ so he should go to a good school’ he stressed.
