INDIA SHOWING SPINE -2 (TRUTH OF CHUMAR) Chumar is the last - TopicsExpress

INDIA SHOWING SPINE -2 (TRUTH OF CHUMAR) Chumar is the last village of Ladakh bordering Himachal Pradesh. This is strategically important for India because here we are at advantageous position and can monitor Chinese movements on the Karakoram Highway to Pakistan. Chinese claim Chumar to be theirs. last year also just before the visit of Chinese PM Li Quiyang China has intruded 19 km in this area and had only gone back after three weeks after making the Cong led UPA Government whine and squirm as also after making it sure that the overhead shelter huts constructed by Indian troops to guard against cold weather are demolished. This time also just before the visit of their all powerful president XI Jinping they intruded at three places in Chunar. At Mount 4991 which is a hill. Here they came with 500 Chinese troops along with bull dozers and cranes to construct a rough hill track. At opposite Point 30 R where Indian army has an observation post and at Point 5109 another hillock. Their aim was to construct a hill track upto Chipzie a Chinese post there by cutting off the supply route of Indian 30 R post from the Indian Army base at Chumar. This time unlike previous episode Indian Army faced them with 1000 of their fully armed troops and made their intentions clear that they will defend their area at all costs as also will not demolish the overhead cover huts which Indians have made in Tible area. This confrontation could have turned ugly and Indian PM mr Modi three times apprised mr Xi Jinping accordingly. Sensing the determination of Indians Mr Jinping ordered these troops to withdraw. Chinese withdrew from Pt 4991 about 1 km back but sat on their vehicles waiting for the Indian troops to withdraw which they did not. Chinese reduced the strength of their troops opposite 30 R from 105 to 35 and withdrew completely from Point 5109.Seeing that Indian troops are not withdrawing Chinese on Saturday 20 Sep have returned to 30 R area with 50 troops and 9 vehicles. It is good thing that PM Modi is taking personal interest in this episode and is daily briefed by Ajit Doval the NSA, Army Chief and Defence Secretary. Tough stance is the answer and this is the only language Chinese understand. We should be prepared to face many more such incidents now. - Brigadier Aarun Bajpai.
